Not sure if you want to go from singing in the shower to singing in a choir? We are a mixed voice choir but we are currently looking to welcome new bass and tenor voices.
Meet some of the past and present Victoria Park Singers tenors and basses who can tell you more about what it’s like!
Steve – Bass What I really like about singing in the choir is that I am learning to do something that I always wanted to do but never felt good enough to attempt. The choir is great because the more experienced singers really help those of us who are less experienced and together we seem to make a good sound! I found out about the choir through my daughter and would not have given it a go without her encouragement!
Chris – Tenor After I gave up playing an orchestral instrument I thought my days of music-making in a group setting were over. How wrong I was! Victoria Park Singers is a fun and dynamic way to sing with others and is great for both beginners and more experienced musicians. The men’s section is strong and comradely, and we would be delighted to welcome new members. If you love to make music and want to meet some new friends in the Victoria Park area, give us a try. You won’t regret it!
Sam – Bass It’s really nice to be part of a group making such a nice sound. I don’t have to drag my friends to concerts – they can’t wait to come along and hear us!
Jonny – Tenor The main benefit of singing in the choir is the enjoyment factor: specifically, it is the enjoyment of singing wonderful music in glorious four part harmony with friendly members of the community. There is also the additional benefit of gaining greater exposure to different types of songs, genres and music in general. From classical to jazz, musical theatre to pop…there is something for everyone. Being in the choir is a perfect example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. You only have to hear the sound we make to realise this!
Theo – Tenor I’ve been with the Victoria Park Singers for six months now. As well as having a great time making beautiful music with a great bunch of lovely people, I’m learning more about reading music (from previously knowing nothing at all) and my singing voice has never sounded better. It’s a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for anybody who enjoys singing, and Hannah is an enthusiastic, inspiring leader.
Henry – Tenor I wasn’t sure that I was going to enjoy being in a choir but now I can’t imagine not singing at least once a week with everyone. I’m using my brain in a new challenging way and I’ve met loads of great people. It makes me happy to think of the choir and what we’ve achieved this season, it sounds amazing!
